Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This website, lime-software.com, and the related Lime Software sites are operated by Lime Software Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Contact for privacy queries: hello@lime-software.com.

2. What data we collect

We collect personal data that you choose to give us, plus limited technical data about visits to our websites (described in section 3). Most of this site needs no registration. The free Oracle licensing training course asks you to sign in with your work email address, as described in the table below.

Where	What we collect	How it's collected
Email and contact links	Your name, email address, phone number (if you call), and anything else you choose to include in your message	Sent from your own email client via a mailto: link, straight to our inbox. It does not pass through a server we host
Booking a call	Your name, email address and anything you add to the booking	Entered on our scheduling provider's booking page (Calendly), which processes it under its own privacy policy
Free training course (sign-up)	Your name, company, work email address, the date and time you agreed to be contacted, and a record of your sign-in codes and sessions. Your IP address is stored briefly with each sign-in code request to limit abuse	Entered by you on the sign-up form at /training/. We email a six-digit code to your address to confirm it is yours. Free webmail addresses are not accepted
Free training course (use)	Your progress through the lessons and practice questions, your assessment scores, and, if you earn one, your certificate (name, level, score, date and certificate number)	Saved to your account when you are signed in, so your progress follows you between devices. A certificate number can be checked by anyone on our verification page, which shows the name, level and date on that certificate
Oracle licence calculator	Your name, company, work email address and agreement to be contacted, plus the figures you enter and the result, if you ask us to send or keep them	Entered by you on the calculator page
Downloads (Summary on a Page sheets, papers)	Nothing. They download without sign-up	Not applicable

3. Visitor data we collect automatically

When you visit our websites, we automatically record a small amount of technical information about the visit. This is separate from anything you choose to give us by email or a booking.

We record:

• your IP address, and the network or organisation that address belongs to;
• your approximate location (country and city, derived from the IP address);
• the pages you view, and the date and time of each visit;
• the website or link that referred you to us;
• your browser type and device type.

We do not use cookies, local storage or similar technologies to collect this visitor information, and we use no advertising or analytics cookies.

Cookies and local storage. The free training course sets only what it needs to work, and only when you use it:

Name	What it is	How long
lime_session (cookie)	Keeps you signed in to the training course after you enter your emailed code. It is HttpOnly, Secure and is not used for tracking or advertising. Signing out removes it	Up to 90 days
lime-course-* (local storage in your browser)	Holds your course progress and answers on your device, and your light, dark or automatic colour choice, so the course works and remembers where you were	Until you sign out or clear your browser data

These are strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for, so we do not show a cookie banner for them. If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy. Our scheduling provider (Calendly) may use its own cookies on its booking page; see its policy. Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers and your IP address is visible to Google when the page loads.

4. Why we use your data, and our legal basis

We use visitor data to:

• keep our websites secure and detect misuse;
• understand which pages and topics interest visitors, so we can improve our content;
• identify the businesses and organisations that visit our websites, so that we can contact them about services relevant to their interests.

Purpose	Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR)
Visitor data: website security, content improvement and business-to-business follow-up	Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): running a secure website and promoting our services to other businesses. We have weighed this against your rights and freedoms and use only the minimum information needed. We focus on the organisation that visited rather than on individual people, and we do not use this information for automated decisions about you.
Creating and running your training sign-in, saving your progress, issuing and verifying certificates, and emailing sign-in codes	Providing the free service you asked for (legitimate interests, and the steps you request before we provide it); security and abuse prevention (legitimate interests)
Contacting you about Oracle licensing after you sign up for the course or use the calculator	Your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any message or emailing us. This does not affect your use of the course
Responding to an enquiry or booking you send us	Legitimate interests (replying to someone who has contacted us) and, where an enquiry leads to an engagement, performance of a contract
Keeping records of client communications and engagements	Legitimate interests, and legal obligations (for example accounting and tax records)

If we contact an organisation as a result of a visit, we will tell you who we are and how to opt out of further messages. You have an absolute right to object to our use of your data for direct marketing, and we will stop straight away if you do. We do not sell personal data.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. It is processed on our behalf by service providers, bound by confidentiality and data-processing terms:

• Cloudflare, Inc., which provides our website hosting, security and network infrastructure, and stores our visit records.
• An IP lookup provider, which helps us identify the organisation behind an IP address.
• Resend, which delivers the sign-in codes and notification emails sent by our website.
• Google (Google Workspace), which hosts our company email, including the notifications we receive when someone signs up.
• Calendly, for call bookings.
• Email, accounting and similar business providers, and professional advisers (accountants, solicitors) where necessary.
• Regulators or authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.

We do not share the contents of an engagement, or any data collected during one, with Oracle or any other third party without your consent.

6. International transfers

These providers may process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards under data protection law, such as the UK and EU approved contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and we have data processing terms in place with each provider.

7. How long we keep data

We keep individual visit records, including IP addresses, for 12 months, then delete them. We keep a summary record of each visiting organisation (its name, network, the pages it viewed and the dates) for up to 3 years so that we can follow up relevant interest, then delete it unless the organisation has become a customer or contact. Training sign-up records (name, company, work email, progress, certificates) and calculator enquiries are kept for up to 24 months after your last activity, then deleted or anonymised; you can ask us to delete yours sooner. Expired sign-in codes and sessions are deleted routinely. We keep enquiry and client correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to handle it, maintain business records and meet legal and accounting obligations, typically up to 7 years for engagement records and less for unconverted enquiries.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you are based, you may have the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
• ask us to correct or delete it;
• object to or restrict our use of it, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing;
• ask for your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent;
• complain to your data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EU, the authority in the country where you live or work.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@lime-software.com. We will respond within one month.

9. Visitors outside the UK and EU

Our sites are used by visitors worldwide. UK and EU GDPR set the baseline standard we apply to everyone. If you are in the US or another jurisdiction with its own privacy law (such as the CCPA/CPRA in California), you have equivalent rights to know what data we hold, request its deletion and opt out of its sale, noting again that we do not sell personal data. If your local law grants rights not listed above, contact us and we will accommodate the request where reasonably possible.

10. Data security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we hold. Separately, our review services are designed so that estate data stays on your own network unless you choose to share it with us.

11. Children's data

This site and our services are directed at business professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows the most recent revision.
